See the World

How do you see it?

Monday, January 3, 2011

Here's a sampling of my portfolio. I included two of my biggest paintings--one is an expressionist painting in the style of Max Beckmann of The Odyssey, specifically focusing on the blinding of the cyclops entitled "Cyclops Living" and the other is a painting inspired by a multitude of sources including Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, and Juane Quick-To-See Smith. I included three drawings from my figure work; two in charcoal, one in ink. Finally I have included four digital photographs from something I call "The Longboard Series". The photos tell stories of objects and people who use objects--nothing in these images was staged and while I play with some of the colors, the objects are as found. "Cyclops Living" is 30" x 40", "My Peace Shirt" is 31" x 40", and the figure drawings are 18" x 24".
